CHAPTER 19
Before I go to bed that night, I text Lucas to let him know that I didnât have anything to eat or drink at the party, but that Iâm only going to bed just now so working out just isnât going to happen in the morning. Iâm dead to the world as soon as my head hits the pillow, and when I wake, I discover a text from him that says no problem.
I hope I didnât screw up everything for you.
I put my phone down and shower. Once I get out, thereâs another text reply from him.
Nah, youâre good. But you couldâve enjoyed yourself some at the party.
Who said I didnât? I donât have to drink to have fun.
Did you have a good time?
Yes. I went with friends.
Did you go home alone?
My eyebrows lift. Iâm surprised heâs texting me, number one, and number two, thereâs no way to know tone through texting.
I hate texting.
Although I hate phone calls too.
Yes, I went home alone. Donât worry. Iâm not a slut. Iâm not trying to look good naked for anyone but myself.
So you donât have anyone in mind?
I hesitate before sending, No.
Iâll see you on Monday.
Good. I hope itâll be a great work out.
Should be.
I canât help smiling to myself as I brush out my hair. As I put on some makeup, I try to come up with a meal plan for the day, but I just canât figure out what to eat today. Thereâs the cafeteria, of course. Thereâs going over to Skylarâs place, but Brooke and I need food, and Iâm a little burned out from all of the cooing.
To try to find some inspiration, I go online and look up healthy recipes that sound fun and easy to make. There are several for protein bars, and it makes me start to wonder if they canât be tweaked some. Hmmâ¦
I write down a list of ingredients and decide to go to the grocery store. If it wasnât so late in the day, I wouldâve been ready to work out, but I do feel like an extra day to relax would do me some good. Iâve been pushing myself so hard, and I donât want to become burned out. Plus, I do have to deal with the whole janitor thing. Iâm not sure if he works on the weekends or not. Hmm. Maybe I can get my mom to find out his schedule. Does he work at a particular building at a certain time every day he works?
When I enter the grocery store, I debate getting one of those baskets and instead end up taking one of the smaller carts. I fill the cart up quickly with various baking items as well as the list I have for the protein dessert type thing I want to make. Iâm not even sure whatâll end up being when I make it, but I hope itâll taste good. Itâs been so long since I bed anything, and I love to bake. Trust me. There is a difference between baking and cooking.
